Erika Alfiero, Mexican visual artist joins the group show "Mosaics for Dante" with the works:
"Dante", "Beatriz", "Prisoner of Hell", "Wolf's Look" and "Shadow".
700 years after the death of Dante Alighieri, "Mosaics for Dante", Collective Exhibition made up of 700 works where 140 Mexican artists participate.
The exhibition is curated by Fernando Aroche Bello.
It was inaugurated on October 21, 2021 in the Sotocorro of the Divino Narciso Auditorium at the University of the Cloister of Sor Juana, located in the Ex-convent of San Jerónimo, Izazaga 92, Historic Center, CDMX, with a stay of 3 weeks.
The presentation text of the exhibition was in charge of the writer Ernesto Lumbreras, who recently received the Ibero-American Ramón López Velarde Award.
Later he traveled to Italy where he was presented to the public on December 3 at the Pallavicini 22 Gallery in Ravenna, the city where Dante lived his last years and where his remains rest, as well as being the epicenter of the events that take place in the country. European to commemorate the great poet.
With this exhibition, Mexico is inserted worldwide in the events that are taking place, since Dante is not only the most important Italian author and father of modern Italian, he is also considered by many as one of the fundamental pillars of Western culture. .
With 700 works for the 700 years, "Mosaics for Dante" represents a very plural range of what is being done in plastic and graphics in Mexico, with 140 artists from all federal entities, at a rate of 5 works each, produced expressly in a selected format (20 x 20 cm) that seeks to emulate the characteristic mosaics of the Italian city that will host the exhibition, thus uniting the long centenary tradition of Ravenna in the manufacture of these, with the historical figure, Dante Alighieri.
Officially included in the program and calendar of commemorative events of the city of Ravenna, Italy, the exhibition will take place in a private gallery in that country linked to the University of the Arts of the City.
From there the collection traveled to Madrid where it was exhibited at the Ra del Rey Gallery, and was included in the Cultural events of this City published on the tourism page, in the month of March 2022.
