En la obra "Guardián de los Cielos y el Inframundo", la artista Erika Alfiero nos transporta a un mundo mágico y misterioso donde la tradición maya y la creatividad se entrelazan de manera asombrosa. Este alebrije realista encarna la esencia de dos seres mitológicos poderosos: el jaguar y el águila.

Para los mayas, el jaguar es el vigilante del inframundo, un ser místico que trasciende la realidad y conecta con el más allá. Su figura majestuosa y enigmática se representa en todo su esplendor en esta creación, con su pelaje pintado monocromático y sus ojos que parecen mirar directamente a los recovecos del alma.
El águila, por otro lado, es un tótem espiritual asociado a los dioses del poder y los mensajeros celestiales. Sus alas extendidas parecen listas para elevarse hacia los cielos, llevando consigo secretos y deseos. El contraste de los detalles intrincados plasmados en las plumas que representan los glifos mayas de las 13 lunas del águila y la misteriosa presencia del jaguar crean una fusión hipnótica.
La combinación de estos dos seres mágicos en una sola figura representa la dualidad de la vida y la muerte, la tierra y el cielo, el poder y la espiritualidad. Es un recordatorio de que, para los mayas, el tiempo es arte, y en esta obra, el tiempo se detiene para que el espectador contemple la belleza y la profundidad de su significado.

In "Guardian of the Skies and the Underworld," the artist Erika Alfiero transports us to a magical and mysterious world where Mayan tradition and creativity intertwine in a breathtaking manner. This realistic alebrije embodies the essence of two powerful mythological beings: the jaguar and the eagle.
For the Mayans, the jaguar is the guardian of the underworld, a mystical being that transcends reality and connects with the beyond. Its majestic and enigmatic figure is depicted in all its glory in this creation, with a monochromatic painted fur and eyes that seem to peer into the depths of the soul.
On the other hand, the eagle is a spiritual totem associated with the gods of power and celestial messengers. Its outstretched wings appear ready to soar into the heavens, carrying secrets and desires. The intricate details painted on the feathers represent the mayan glyphs of the 13 moons of the eagle.
The contrast between the eagle's energy and the mysterious presence of the jaguar create a mesmerizing fusion.
The combination of these two magical beings into a single figure represents the duality of life and death, the earthly and the celestial, power and spirituality. It serves as a reminder that, for the Mayans, time is art, and in this work, time stands still, allowing the viewer to contemplate the beauty and depth of its significance.
